A pedestrian has died after being hit by a tram on a busy street in South Melbourne.
The crash occurred in an inbound lane of Kings Way near the Citylink off ramp just after 1.30pm.
The person died at the scene and is yet to be identified.
The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are being investigated.
Motorists are being advised to expect significant delays in the area with three inbound lanes closed on Kings Way.
