Zoom has crashed worldwide throwing work meetings and school classes into chaos.

The issues started at around 8am this morning, according to the website Downdetector.

People have encountered problems with joining and starting video meetings on the platform.

Others have also struggled to log in, while students have been blocked from joining lectures and classes.

Zoom has apologised for the outages and is currently looking for a way to fix them.

People have complained about the software failing in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton and elsewhere in the UK, according to a map of reports on Downdetector.

One social media user said they even missed an interview because of Zoom crashing.

A spokesman for Zoom said: “We are aware of a subset of customers experiencing errors while joining a live meeting.

“We are currently investigating and will provide updates as we have them. Apologies for any inconvenience.”

It comes after the video conferencing platform crashed on almost the exact same date last year.
