Young man stabbed during Adelaide shopping centre brawl

The brawl started around lunchtime inside the Munno Para shopping centre in Adelaide and began with two girls shouting at each other before two young men got involved.

An 18-year-old man allegedly stabbed the 19-year-old, who hit the floor surrounded by a “frightening” amount of blood, according to witnesses.

The 19-year-old suffered a stab wound to the torso and was rushed to hospital.

While considered serious, the injuries are not life-threatening.

The fight broke out in the middle of the shopping centre, with terrified onlookers watching it all unfold over lunch.

“Yeah it was pretty scary .. it was .. it was terrifying,” onlooker Michelle Fisher said.

“Not nice, I’m just glad I didn’t have my grandchildren today.”

Paramedics and police arrived at the scene, taking the 19-year-old to hospital in a serious condition, and arresting the 18-year-old, also taking the alleged weapon in for evidence.

The 18-year-old man has been charged with aggravated assault causing serious harm. He has been refused bail and will appear in Elizabeth Magistrates Court next Monday.
