Wyatt Pike Drops Surprise Track Following Sudden ‘American Idol’ Exit

Wyatt Pike has released his first original song less than a week after abruptly dropping out of “American Idol”.

The singer took to Instagram on Monday, April 19 to share “Friday Nights” with fans.

“As promised, here’s a video of my tune ‘Friday Nights’! I had fun filming this for you yesterday, hope you enjoy,” he wrote in the caption.

The former “American Idol” Top 16 contestant shocked viewers with his sudden exit from the show.

Ryan Seacrest was announcing the Top 12 when he broke the news during last Monday’s episode.

“Before we get to the results, I have to tell you that finalist Wyatt Pike will not be competing in the competition. He had to drop out, but we wish him the very best,” Seacrest said.

It’s still unclear why Pike dropped out.

Pike had travelled back home to Park City, Utah, so with the strict quarantine rules for filming “American Idol” in Los Angeles, Wyatt might have not been able to return in time.

On Wednesday, he shared an Instagram post, revealing he “had to leave the @AmericanIdol competition for personal reasons but am so thankful I get to play music for the rest of my life.”
