TikTok user ‘shamed’ for her outfit on plane

A woman said she was left feeling “degraded” after being shamed by a flight attendant for wearing a crop top to travel.

TikTok user Sierra Steadman used a series of videos on TikTok to describe how she was “humiliated” while on the Alaska Airlines flight.

Sierra described how she was wearing a black crop top with shorts and a hoodie when the stewardess allegedly told her off and even threatened to kick her off the flight.

The shocked passenger claimed the flight attendant also grabbed her arm when she tried to walk away as she was “screaming in my face”.

In one of the videos, which has now received over 1.4m views, Sierra, said: “When the flight attendant shames you in front of the whole plane and threatens to kick you off for what your wearing (sic).”

The caption of the video states: “I’ve never felt more degraded, ashamed, embarrassed, angry or sad. F ALASKA AIRLINES!!!”

“When I tried to walk away from her because she was screaming in my face she grabbed my arm,” she wrote in one comment.

“Outfit aside, there was no reason to physically and verbally assault me and humiliate me, especially when I complied w[ith] her request.”

TikTok users who have viewed her ordeal have shown solidarity as they commented saying they were sorry for what she was put through and encouraged her to report the staff.

One said: “Dude literally every girl wears that. I’m sorry that this happened to you.”

One flight attendant said she was “so sorry” to hear of Sierra’s ordeal before adding the stewardess “must have been jealous as 99 per cent of us couldn’t care less about what passengers wear”.

While one asked how staff could do something so “despicable”.

Sierra then followed up with another video where she shared the apology sent by the airline to her mother.


“Alaska strives to provide exceptional service to our customers. From what you have shared, it is apparent that we have failed,” the text read.

“You and your daughter should expect nothing less than to be treated with the utmost respect, compassion and care.

“It is truly disappointing to hear that you both did not feel that way during boarding and during the interactions with our flight attendant.

“We want to assure you that we take these matters very seriously and have shared your concern with our Inflight Management team that will conduct an internal investigation.

“Due to privacy concerns, we will not be able to disclose any findings, but can guarantee you that this will be reviewed,” they wrote.
