PM Narendra Modi attended the wedding on Monday, October 28. As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly flew in on a chopper to attend the wedding ceremony hosted by Savji Dholakia, who is said to be Surat’s richest man. Savji Dholakia’s son, Dravya Dholakia, got married to Janhvi at the Het Ni Haveli in Gujarat’s Dudhala.
The news of PM Narendra Modi attending the wedding was confirmed after the Dholakia family took to Instagram to share photos and videos of Dravya Dholakia’s wedding, which showed PM Narendra Modi blessings the newlyweds. In his post, Savji Dholakia thanked PM Modi for joining his son’s wedding and blessing the couple. “His presence and heartfelt blessings for the couple have filled our family with gratitude and pride,” Savji Dholakia said. Who Is Savji Dholakia?
According to his website, Savji Dholakia is the founder and chairman of Hari Krishna Exports, a diamond manufacturing and exporting company. He describes himself as a business leader, philanthropist, and motivational speaker. Born in Amreli’s Dudhala village, Savji Dholakia migrated to Surat and joined his uncle’s diamond business. A few years later, his brothers Himmat and Tulsi also joined him, and the trio founded their own diamond business in 1984.
Later, their youngest brother, Ghanshyam, joined them, and the four brothers opened Hari Krishna Exports in 1992. The company, which started small as a diamond cutting and polishing unit in Surat, later expanded to Mumbai to meet the growing demand for raw diamonds. The diamond merchant is well known for lavishing lavish gifts on his employees every year, including high-end cars and fixed deposits. Savji Dholakia Awarded Padma Shri in 2022
Besides his business acumen, Savji Dholakia is also known for his philanthropy and generosity towards his employees. As per his website, Dholakia has rewarded 4,600 employees so far. The 62-year-old businessman has also been involved in various social initiatives through the Dholakia Foundation, a philanthropic arm of Hari Krishna Exports.
Notably, the foundation focuses on a range of issues such as environmental conservation, education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment, among others. Savji Dholakia’s Dholakia Foundation has planted over three million trees and constructed nearly 158 lakes. In 2022, the Narendra Modi-led government honoured him with Padma Shri for his contributions to the diamond industry and his philanthropic work.
