Gurugram, March 12: In a significant political development, Nayab Singh Saini was named HaryanaтАЩs new Chief Minister. His name was decided during the BJPтАЩs meeting on Tuesday, held after Manohar Lal Khattar resigned from the post in the morning. Nayab Saini will be the chief minister of Haryana for the next nine months before the state goes to polls later this year. Accordingly, Saini will take oath around 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Raj Bhawan.
Nayab Saini, a BJP MP from Kurukshetra, will vacate his seat in the Parliament to assume the new role of Haryana Chief Minister. Nayab Singh Saini is a big OBC name in Haryana’s political landscape.┬аHis journey within the BJP began in 1996 when he joined the organisational framework and worked alongside the state general secretary until 2000.┬аThe last decade saw Saini step up the party ladder. In 2014, he became an MLA from Naraingarh Seat, and in 2016, he became a minister in Haryana for the first time.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Nayab Singh Saini defeated his nearest rival, Nirmal Singh of the Indian National Congress (INC), from the Kurukshetra constituency with a margin of over 3.83 lakh votes. He was appointed as the state president of the Haryana BJP in October 2023.
