Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar reached Valmikinagar in West Champaran district on Wednesday as part of the first leg of his “Samadhan Yatra”, which will kick off from January 5 and will continue till February 7.

During the statewide outreach programme, the CM will review various development works undertaken by the state government in 18 districts — West Champaran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Vaishali, Siwan, Saran, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Supaul, Saharsa, Araria, Kishanganj, Kathihar, Khagaria, Banka, Munger, Lakhisarai, and Sheikhpura — by January 29, as per the itinerary issued by his office.

This is Nitish Kumar’s 14th yatra ever since he undertook the “Nayay Yatra” in 2005 ahead of the assembly polls November, which brought him to power in the state.

West Champaran’s deputy development commissioner (DDC) Anil Kumar said all the necessary preparations have been made. “A village called Daruabari (near Valmikinagar) has been identified where the CM will interact with villagers on January 5 and take their feedback on various government benefits reaching them. Later, he will review the progress of various development works undertaken by the state government in a meeting with officials,” said the DDC, in charge of district magistrate, who is on leave.

“Security in places in Bagaha subdivision where the CM is scheduled to visit has been beefed up,” said Kiran Kumar Gorakh Jadhav, superintendent of police (SP), Bagaha.

Meanwhile, the district administration has identified 40 landless families to be benefitted from the land allotments. “As many as 40 families have been identified. Each family would get 3.5 decimals of land in the next few days,” said Deepak Kumar, circle officer (CO), Bagaha 2.
