In Kolkata, a loud explosion occurred around 1:45 PM at the intersection of Blochmann Street and SN Banerjee Road today, September 14, resulting in injuries to a rag picker. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene, with one person recounting, “We were standing nearby when the explosion occurred. We rushed to the spot and saw the rag picker lying injured with a wound on his right wrist. The blast was very loud.” The police arrived promptly, transporting the injured to NRS Hospital, and secured the area with a security cordon. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was called in to investigate the scene and ensure it was safe. Traffic was temporarily disrupted but resumed after the BDDS clearance.
