Mumbai: Former India cricketer and left-handed batter, Vinod Kambli has opened up about his health struggles during a YouTube interview. He joined famous YouTuber and anchor Vickey Lalwani to discuss his health issues and his bond with his friend and former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. He also promised to come back stronger.
Fans were worried about Vinod Kambli’s health as many videos surfaced on social media in which it can be seen that the ex-cricketer was not even able to stand on his feet. Many said that he was under the influence of alcohol due to which he was not able to stand properly. However, he clarified that he has been facing health problems.
Recently, a video surfaced on the internet in which it can be seen that Vinod Kambli is grabbing Sachin Tendulkar’s hands at an event. Vinod Kambli was barely able to stand and was also facing difficulties while speaking. Those who witnessed Kambli at the peak of his career would struggle to comprehend the challenges the former Indian cricketer is now facing.
Vinod Kambli on his health issues
Speaking about his health Kambli said that he is facing some issues with urine. He further said that around one month he fell down and urine was flowing uncontrollably after which his son picked him up, his wife Andrea Kambli and his daughter helped him to get up. The doctors asked him to get admitted to the hospital after which he claims that he was admitted to three different hospitals.
About his bond with Sachin Tendulkar
On questioning about his bond with his childhood friend Sachin Tendulkar, Kambli said, “We are friends since childhood. I have seen Sachin Tendulkar’s height grow.” Speaking over his statement against Tendulkar that he did not helped him during his hard times, he said that Sachin helped him a lot. He helped him during his surgeries in Lilavati Hospital in 2013. He said that Sachin helped him financially. He said that he was angry and the statement was given in frustration against the Little Master.
Vinod Kambli On Alcohol addiction
Speaking about his alcohol addiction, Vinod Kambli said that he has quit smoking and alcohol for the past six months. He said that he wanted to do something for his kids, so he stopped consuming alcohol and quit smoking for them.
Vinod Kambli’s Cricketing Career
Vinod Kambli has played 17 Tests for Team India and scored 1,084 runs with two double centuries under his belt. He made his ODI debut for Indian Cricket Team in 1991 against Pakistan during Wills Sharjah Trophy. He scored 2,477 runs in 104 matches with two centuries and 14 fifties.
Besides cricket, Vinod Kambli has also tried his luck in acting. He has worked in movies like, Annarth starring Sanjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty, Pal Pal Dil Ke Ssaat alongside Ajay Jadeja.
