Victoria records 11 new cases of COVID-19

Victoria COVID-19 Taskforce Commander Jeroen Weimar says the state has recorded 11 new cases of the virus, bringing the total for the cluster to 56 infections.

“With the 56 active cases in this particular outbreak, there are five people currently in hospital, one of whom is in ICU but fortunately not on a ventilator,” he said.

Mr Weimar said the seven of the new cases were associated with Caroline Springs shopping centre, three were related Newport football club including a household contact, and one was a student at Al-Taqwa College.

Mr Weimar also said Victoria had conducted over one million tests since July 17, with almost 39,000 of those being done yesterday.
