As more experts in mainframe computing near their retirement, companies like US-based Ensono aim to fill the gap.
Jeff Von Deylen, CEO of Ensono, told reporters on Tuesday that their clients are mostly legacy companies who use a hybrid model for their data repository — both on cloud as well as in physical systems.
After the US, Ensono has its largest workforce in India with operations in Pune, Bengaluru and Chennai. And, of its 1,384 employees in India, Pune has the largest share of 638.
“Across the world, companies who had used mainframe for their core functions are facing a crisis where their talent is about to retire. While some functions have been migrated to cloud, some of the functions would remain on mainframe. Our solutions and expertise can help such companies in their day to day operations,” he said.
Mainframe refers to a computer used by a large enterprise for bulk data processing like census and transactional operations. These machines are mainly used by government agencies like municipal corporations, and insurance and other banking and financial companies.
Deylen said 55 per cent of Ensono’s revenues come from mainframe-related clients while the rest comes from private and public cloud services.
