UP ATS busts al-Qaida module in Lucknow, arrests two terrorists | India News

NEW DELHI: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad foiled a major terror attack on Sunday and arrested two al-Qaida-linked operatives during an operation in Lucknow.
Briefing reporters about the operation, UP Police ADG (Law and order) Prashant Kumar said that ATS has uncovered a big terror module in the Kakori area of Lucknow and arrested two terrorists linked with al-Qaida’s Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
“Cache of arms and explosive materials were recovered during the raid,” Kumar added.

The terrorists were identified as Minhaz Ahmad (R) and Maseeruddin.
He said the terror activities are being run from Peshawar, Quetta in Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
“Minhaz Ahmad and Maseeruddin were playing a crucial role. Their accomplices in Lucknow and Kanpur were also involved,” he said.
According to reports, the house where the raids were conducted belonged to a man named Shahid.
