Ukrainian TikToker shows fans a ‘day in the life’

One Ukrainian woman has turned to TikTok in a desperate bid to share how Russian forces continue to wreak havoc.

Known only as Valerish, the young resident is reportedly living in a below-ground bunker with her parents and dog, while living in the bombed-out city of Chernihiv.

The videos highlight the ongoing struggles for residents who stayed – with the family struggling to find food before walking through their destroyed surroundings.

In one clip, Valerish recorded herself being woken up by her father to get ready for the day, while her dog sits quietly in the bomb shelter.

She then shows her mum cook up whatever is available for them to eat, before venturing outside to return to her house for more supplies.

One particularly heartbreaking clip in the video – which was posted to the woman’s @valerisssh account – sees the Ukrainian standing outside a destroyed building, as she “checks what Vladimir Putin did with my city”.

Out on the hunt for food, the teenager procures eggs before returning to her bunker ahead of repeating the task all over again the next day.

The heartbreaking video making the best of unfortunate circumstances has racked up over 25 million views and more than 3 million likes on TikTok.

The video is set to the popular song “Che Cha Luna” by jazz singer Louis Prima, in a bleak contrast to the tough situation her family find herself in.

Many people liked the video for her sense of humour in a difficult situation, with one commenter stating: “Love your sense of humour during an unreal time.”

While another added: “The way you manage to be so funny despite going through chaos.”

Someone else extended a helping hand, saying: “I’m Polish, you’re welcome here, we got many places to live in, many, many workplaces. Many people who want to help you all in this hard situation.”

“ Ukraine is fighting for the whole of Europe”, a fourth stated.

Valerish isn’t the only one trying to lift people’s spirits either, as we recently told how one little girl known only as Amelia silenced a room full of people hunkering down in a bomb shelter as she sang a moving rendition of Let It Go from the hit Disney movie Frozen.

A woman named Marta Smekhova shared the video on Facebook on Thursday, explaining that she had received permission from Amelia’s mother.

She wrote: “From the first word in the [bomb shelter] came complete silence… everyone put their business aside and listen[ed] to a song by this girl who was just beaming light… even men couldn’t hold back the tears.

“Our children radiate light, and even in a raw dark basement it does not blink, but ignites even brighter!
