Two dead in light plane crash near Sydney

Two people have died after a small plane crashed in Sydney’s south-west.

A bushfire was started by the accident in thick bushland near Appin Road at Appin in Macarthur at 3pm.

Following a search of the area police and ambulance crews found a light plane with two dead aboard.

They are yet to be formally identified, NSW Police, said.

“Police will work with Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) investigators as inquiries into the circumstance surrounding crash continue,” NSW Police, said.

Police earlier confirmed an aircraft was missing in the area after taking off from the small private Wedderburn Airport.
