Pune city police have booked the husband along with in-laws of a Muslim woman for allegedly harassing her physically and mentally and giving her triple talaq over phone.
The 28-year-old woman lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Wanavdi police station on Thursday.
Police have booked her husband and parents-in-law under sections 377, 406, 498 (a), 323, 504 of the Indian Penal Code and evaluation of triple talaq under Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019.
As per the FIR, between April 2019 and July 2022, the accused persons allegedly harassed the complainant over domestic issues. Her husband allegedly thrashed her following financial matters and had unnatural sex with her without her consent. It is also alleged that he gave her triple talaq over the phone.
The woman had initially filed a complaint application with the police. After conducting a preliminary inquiry into her complaint, police lodged the FIR and initiated further investigation.
