Mumbai, August 29: Toyota Kirloskar Motors launched the world’s first hybrid electric prototype based on the Innova HyCross Flex-Fuel MPV. Indian Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was present during the event, and he unveiled the model in front of the press. The Toyota Innova Flex-Fuel MPV prototype is a hybrid solution to traditional fossil fuel, and it is compatible with the government’s latest Bharat Stage 6 (BS 6) norms. The Toyota HyCross prototype is an electric and ethanol-based hybrid vehicle that aims to reduce the carbon footprint in the country.
The striking features of the Toyota Innova HyCross Flex-Fuel MPV are its four-cylinder 2.0-litre engine that runs on the 85% ethanol blend and its compatibility with the BS 6 norms. According to a report, the Toyota Innova HyCross Flex-Fuel MPV can provide 30 to 50% higher fuel efficiency. The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the manufacturers have shown an absence of the ethanol fuel stations in India, which stops Flex-Fuel vehicles from getting launched. It is an ideal clean energy alternative for the country, and the supply of such plants is abundant with the government and the nation.
