‘Three quarters’ of Victorian outbreak cases aged under 40

Victorian Deputy Chief Health Officer Professor Ben Cowie says “three quarters” of cases in the state’s outbreak are under the age of 40.

“When we look through all of the 1,029 active cases currently living with COVID-19 in Victoria, looking at that age breakdown for those aged between zero and nine years, there’s 192 active cases,” Professor Cowie said.

He said in people aged 10-19, there are 157 cases, in those 20-29 there are 243 cases and in those 30-39 years there are 183 active cases in Victoria.

“So that means that three quarters of our active cases are aged under 40 years.”
