Queensland Chief Health Officer Dr John Gerrard says the lack of hospitalised COVID patients who are significantly sick shows the vaccines are working.
This comes as the state recorded 784 new cases, with only four reported COVID patients in hospital.
“The numbers of patients that are in hospital sick suggests strongly that these vaccines are working,” Dr Gerrard said during a media conference on Monday.
“It is quite striking.”
He said, however, it is still critical for people to get their third dose when it is available to them.
“Particularly older people and people who may have some impairment of their immunity.”
