The Block 2021 episode 30 recap: тАЬItтАЩs taking the pissтАЭ: Mark and MitchтАЩs war on the judges heats up

0

Hell really hath no fury like a Mark and Mitch ill-judged.

The pair stormed out of last nightтАЩs judging before Scott Cam had dismissed the contestants, spitting out the kind of language most unbecoming for grandfathers, or anyone else for that matter.

And they havenтАЩt let it go.

тАЬWe need to dust ourselves off because itтАЩs not going to do us any good to carry round discomfort for people are nasty,тАЭ Mitch says, before carrying round a great, great deal of discomfort.

The pair concede Kirsty and Jesse thoroughly deserved their win, but the judgesтАЩ accolades for the other contestants stick in their craw.

Noting a variety of defects including daylight showing through the join in Tanya and VitoтАЩs lauded curved window and a lack of storage in Josh and LukeтАЩs butlerтАЩs pantry, theyтАЩre spitting chips.

тАЬI donтАЩt know how they can stand by their feedback,тАЭ Mitch says.

тАЬWalking through the kitchens with obvious faults the judges canтАЩt see, this has to be questioned,тАЭ Mark agrees. тАЬI donтАЩt understand the inconsistency. I predict we wonтАЩt win another room.тАЭ

тАЬWhen you see inadequate kitchens getting praised itтАЩs either taking the piss or you donтАЩt know your sh*t,тАЭ Mitch adds.

Describing Josh and LukeтАЩs dark hued room as тАЬa kitchen from 2000тАЭ, Mark is equally unimpressed with their Christian Cole timber bench feature.

тАЬThey took timber, sanded it and put it on there,тАЭ he says, as Mitch stalks off declaring тАЬitтАЩs a jokeтАЭ.

Which is particularly unkind because when Josh and Luke tour Mark and MitchтАЩs kitchen, they agree the granddads were hard done by by the judges, who were particularly critical of their decision to have drawer rather than cupboard pantries.

тАЬThey didnтАЩt deserve to get slammed,тАЭ Josh says.

тАЬI prefer food to be in a drawer to be honest, rather than having to reach up to grab something,тАЭ Luke agrees. тАЬThey were judged very harshly.тАЭ

One thing everyone agrees on is Kirsty and JesseтАЩs win.

тАЬThey should be very proud,тАЭ Mark says.

тАЬAs much as it pains me to say it, I think they deserved the win,тАЭ Georgia says.

Judging post mortem done, the teams are on to living and dining room week. But itтАЩs not just living and dining room. That old cheating scandal just keeps raising its head.

Kinsman had rostered on all their installers to put in laundry cabinetry this week, but with the schedule thrown out the window laundry week has been put back. That means Kinsman can come and install the carcasses this week if the teams can get their acts together, but if not they will have to install them themselves when laundry week actually comes around.

Ronnie in particular isnтАЩt happy, given this means plastering and waterproofing the laundry space, not to mention planning it.

тАЬThis is all because Tanya took that photo and cheated,тАЭ he says. тАЬThatтАЩs what it comes down to.тАЭ

He suggests that Tanya and Vito should wear the cost of the having the other teamsтАЩ laundries installed in the week they were meant to.

тАЬTanya and Vito think itтАЩs all over, they lost two point, done,тАЭ he says. But it would appear Tanya and Vito are right about that because his request falls on deaf ears.

Speaking of the cheaters, this week they are throwing everything at their тАЬgame-changerтАЭ, a sunken lounge.

TheyтАЩre using the extra $10,000 they get for raising the game-changer flag, the free tradies they can get through Hipages once in the competition, plus the $25,000 room budget to pay for the excavation, concrete slab and custom lounge thatтАЩs involved.

All is going swimmingly until their builder discovers phase three power runs right where they need to dig. Vito being Vito blames everyone, until itтАЩs pointed out that his original builder and electrician were told exactly where the power ran but failed to pass it on to their new builder, which isnтАЩt surprising given they had sacked him.

But Keith and Dan pull out all the stops to get the power line rerouted. It means they will be without power for the day and possibly the next, along with their neighbours Josh and Luke.

Lucky it wasnтАЩt Ronnie and Georgia because the answer would most certainly have involved two middle fingers.

As well as trying to plan their laundries and finish their living dining rooms, the teams also have to clean their houses from top to bottom and create an advertising video for their real estate agents. And the all star teams have the added task of finishing the kitchen at the nearby Tombolo Academy for gifted disabled children.

Kirsty and Jesse kindly decide to host their winners dinner at the Academy so the all stars donтАЩt have to stop work, but when the dinner turns out to be Maccas and the fan teams depart without offering to lift a finger, it seems like a somewhat hollow gesture.
