Tata Nexon Subcompact SUV Gets New Entry-Level Petrol, Diesel Variants; Check Prices & Other Details
Mumbai, May 13: Tata Motors has silently rejigged the Nexon Subcompact SUV’s variant lineup by introducing affordable petrol and diesel trims. This move from the Indian automaker comes after the launch of Mahindra XUV3XO. The new base petrol variant – Smart (O) costs Rs. 7.99 lakh, while the affordable diesel model – Smart+ is priced at Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Smart (O) petrol variant is now affordable by Rs. 16,000 as the Smart variant of the Nexon was retailing at Rs. 8.16 lakh (ex-showroom). However, a notable difference in pricing is visible with the Smart+ diesel variant, which brings down the price by Rs. 1.2 lakh from Rs. 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Nexon’s Pure diesel was available at Rs. 11.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
As for features, the new affordable diesel variant gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4 speakers, a reverse camera, a multi-function steering wheel, power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and more.
The carmaker also slashed prices for the Smart+ petrol variant (manual) by Rs. 31,000, bringing down the retailing cost to Rs. 8.89 lakh. The variant was priced at Rs. 9.2 lakh. Moreover, the Smart+ S trim retails at Rs. 9.39 lakh with a price cut of Rs. 41,000.
There are no mechanical changes on the new affordable petrol and diesel trims. The subcompact SUV comes with a choice of both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol trim gets a 120hp 1.2-litre turbo engine while diesel trims get 115 hp oil burner. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Tata Nexon competes in the competitive subcompact SUV space with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Nisan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Toyota Taisor, and the Hyundai Venue.
