In the video, the minister can be heard shouting at the worker for the delay and picking up a stone from the spot where he stood. A couple of DMK functionaries, who were with Nasar, be heard laughing in the background. No one was injured in the incident. Nasar was overseeing arrangements at a venue in Tiruvallur where chief minister MK Stalin is to participate in a public meeting on Wednesday as part of DMK’s “Veera Vanakkam Naal” event. The event is to commemorate those who died during the anti-Hindi agitation.
Opposition parties criticised his behaviour. TN BJP unit president K Annamalai tweeted: “In India’s history, has anybody seen a government minister throwing stones at people? Display of this by a @arivalayam party DMK government minister, Thiru @Avadi_Nasar. Throwing stones at people in frustration. No decency, No decorum and treating people like slaves! That’s DMK for you. ” Seconding him, ex-AIADMK minister D Jayakumar, said, “Is this Dravidian model which DMK wants to project?”
