Kancheepuram, October 15: Raj Kumar, a 34-year-old man, allegedly murdered his four-month-pregnant wife, Nandini, on Thursday, October 12, by setting her on fire following a domestic dispute. The couple, who had been married for seven years, resided in Govindapuram near Maraimalai Nagar with their six-year-old son. The disturbing sequence of events unfolded on Thursday night, following a heated argument between the couple over Raj Kumar’s persistent drinking habit, which had been a source of contention for the past year.

According to multiple reports, Raj Kumar, who was unemployed and resided in Govindapuram near Maraimalai Nagar, had a history of domestic disputes with his wife. Regrettably, she succumbed to her injuries at Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital. Raj Kumar was swiftly apprehended by the authorities following the heinous act and was remanded in judicial custody. In a similar incident in Coimbatore in September, a 34-year-old man, identified as M David alias Arumugam, was arrested for brutally murdering his wife, A Karpagam, 33, allegedly due to her involvement in an extramarital affair. Despite attempts to reconcile, the situation escalated when Arumugam, a wall painter, confronted his wife with a knife, demanding she end the affair and return to him. Refusing to comply and insisting on a divorce, Karpagam was stabbed in the neck, abdomen, shoulder, and head, succumbing to her injuries at the scene. The accused has been remanded in judicial custody following his arrest.
