The Tamil Nadu government has announced a 4% rise in Dearness Allowance (DA) for State government employees, teachers and pensioners on Wednesday, October 25, with retroactive effect from July 1 this year. The news is projected to benefit over 16 lakh State government employees, teachers, pensioners, and family pensioners, according to an official statement. To fund this, the state exchequer will incur an extra cost of Rs 2,546.16 crore. Meanwhile, the Central government has also announced a 4% DA boost for Railways personnel, beginning July 1, 2023, in a festival bonanza that would bring smiles to Central government employees.
