‘Singham Again’: From Ramayana Parallels to Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Raavan’ Dialogue, 10 Cuts and Changes Censor Board Has Asked From Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty’s Movie!

As of October 28, Singham Again has been certified by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), also known as the Censor Board. Scheduled for release on November 1, alongside Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the movie has been certified U/A and has a runtime of approximately 144.42 minutes. Directed by Rohit Shetty, Singham Again is the third instalment in the Singham series and a key entry in his larger cop universe. The film stars an ensemble cast, including Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Tiger Shroff, Shweta Tiwari, and Arjun Kapoor, with Salman Khan making a cameo appearance as Chulbul Pandey from Dabangg.

The trailer for Singham Again strongly indicates that the plot draws inspiration from the Ramayana, with scenes and characters drawing parallels to the epic. According to reports, these parallels prompted the Censor Board to request several cuts and modifications to scenes and dialogues, particularly those involving match-cuts comparing Ajay Devgn’s Bajirao Singham to Lord Ram, and other such comparisons. Here Are 10 Reported Cuts or Modifications Requested by the Censor Board for ‘Singham Again’:

1. A 23-second match cut comparing Lord Ram, Sita Mata, and Lord Hanuman to Singham, Avni, and Simmba was modified. Additionally, a 23-second scene showing “Singham with Shri Ram, touching feet” was altered.

2. A 16-second scene depicting Raavan grabbing, pulling, and pushing Sita was removed.

3. A 29-second scene featuring Lord Hanuman burning and Simmba’s flirtatious dialogue was deleted.

4. Arjun Kapoor’s character Zubair’s dialogue was deleted or modified in four places, including his exchanges with Simmba.

5. Visuals of a Constitutional head were removed, and corresponding dialogue was modified in two instances.

6. A 26-second sequence was removed or altered due to concerns about “international diplomatic relations.” Possibly, the film’s depiction of Sri Lanka.

7. A police station beheading scene was blurred.

8. The colour of a religious flag was adjusted, and the “Shiv Stotra” background score was removed.

9. Dialogue by Arjun Kapoor comparing himself to Raavan and the colour of the flag in the scene were both altered.

10. A disclaimer clarifying the fictional nature of the film was added, displayed for one minute and 19 seconds.
