Satna (Madhya Pradesh): Satna Airport is likely to become operational in February with all necessary preparations currently being carried out. The operation license for the airport was granted in October.
According to sources familiar with the developments, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) had sought approximately 58 security personnel for deployment at the airport. The state government has given consent for the same and the personnel will be deployed on the day operations at the airport commence, they added.
The Satna airport is set to become a boon for the Vindhya region. It will be the second airport, following Rewa airport, to provide air connectivity to the region and also indirectly boost industrialization in the entire belt. In box 291 acres identified for Shivpuri airport expansion The Shivpuri airport expansion plan is in the offing. The district administration has identified 291 acre for the airport expansion.
The Cabinet will take the final decision on the matter and thereafter the land will be transferred to AAI.
Earlier, the AAI had demanded more land for airport expansion so that big aircrafts including jet can also land there. Following this, the state government has asked the Shivpuri administration to identify the land for the said purpose. The Shivpuri airport will also prove beneficial to people of Uttar Pradesh as well as it is situated close to UP.
