Samba: Two Punjab-based interstate narco-suppliers nabbed with Rs 16.71 lakh cash and heroin in Samba | India News
JAMMU: Two Punjab-based interstate narcotics suppliers were held along with Rs 16.71 lakh cash believed to be proceeds of narcotics sale and contraband worth Rs 20,000 during a naka checking in J&K’s Samba district on Friday, a senior police officer said.
SSP Samba Benam Tosh said, “On specific input, a police party at Tapyal naka point flagged down a Punjab registration number vehicle plying suspiciously from Samba towards Kathua at very high speed. But the driver of the vehicle instead of halting sped up to escape the checking. The vehicle was chased and intercepted.”
On checking the vehicle and personal frisking of the two occupants of the vehicle in the presence of magistrate Charanjeet Singh Raina and DySP (headquarters) Mohd Usman, the police team recovered currency notes in different denominations amounting to Rs 16,71,520 and heroin worth Rs 20,000, Tosh said.
The accused identified as Harpreet Singh and Ranjeet Singh, both from Punjab, were arrested on the spot and a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered.
Tosh said that during the last two and half months, 17 top suppliers of heroin including three women heroin dealers have been arrested in Samba district and investigations are on in all the cases.
