Mumbai, October 18: The Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) has posted a list of cars that gets the 5-star safety rating under “Safar Cars For India” initiative. The programme aims to promote safer car sales and empower consumers by providing information about the safety of vehicles. In 2014, Global NCAP launched Safer Cars For India and crash-tested five popular cars sold in India. The vehicles that were crash-tested scored zero stars. Recently, the platform published a list of cars that have achieved India’s higher Global NCAP safety rating.
Recently, Tata Motors Cars launched its new Tata Harrier and new Tata Safari 2023 models in India. Both the Tata SUVs received the Global NCAP score for adult and child occupants in all the #SafeCarForIndia tests in 2023The crash test done by the programme assesses frontal and side impact protection for the car models. It also takes Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Pedestrian protection, and side impact pole protection assessments. The vehicles can finally score the star ratings by going through all these assessments. Top 10 Global NCAP Rating Cars in India #SafeCarsForIndia:
Under the “Safer Cars For India” programme, the Global NCAP has listed many vehicles that have scored higher in 2023, including companies like Tata, Hyundai, Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen, Mahindra, and Kia. All the mentioned protocols have tested all manufacturers’ car models and have finally been assessed to be listed as the top-rated vehicle. - Tata Safari and Tata Harrier new 2023 models: Launched on October 17, the new Tata Safari and new Tata Harrier get the top Five-Star Global NCAP rating worldwide for adult and child safety. The car has gone through frontal, side, and pole testing.
- Skoda Kushaq: Skoda Kushaq has been given a 5-star Global NCAP rating for adults and children.
- Volkswagen Taigun: The Taigun from Volkswagen received a 5-star rating for both the child and adults. The car passes all the tests.
- Hyundai Verna: Hyundai’s 5-door sedan Verna has been awarded a 5-star Global NCAP rating in 2023. The Hyundai Verna car has also undergone frontal, side and pole testing.
- Volkswagen Virtus: Volkswagen Virtus has been given a 5-star rating for adults and children by Global NCAP. The 5-door sedan has gone through all the crash tests by the programme.
- Skoda Slavia: Skoda Slavia has also been awarded the top 5-star rating for adults and child after the tests conducted by Global NCAP.
- Tata Punch: Tata’s popular Punch model scores a 5-star in the Global NCAP crash test. The car receives a 4-star rating for child occupants.
- Mahindra XUV300: Mahindra’s XUV300 model has received praiseworthy 5-star adult and 4-star child safety ratings.
- Mahindra Scorpio N: In 2023, Mahindra Scorpio N scored the 5-star rating and 3-star rating for the child.
- Tata Altroz and Nexon Models: Tata Altroz and Tata Nexon have received a 5-star Global NCAP rating and a 3-star child safety rating.
The top 10 car models mentioned in the list have all received the high 5-Star Global NCAP but may fall short on the child rating. The other cars that have received high safety ratings are the Honda Jazz with 4-star adult and 3-star child ratings; the same rating goes to the Toyota Urban Cruiser, Tata Tigor, and many others. Mahindra Thar gets a 4-star rating for both children and adults.
