The Punjab and Haryana High Court recently said that sacrilege is a heinous offence while refusing to quash an FIR registered against a man who claimed he was an incarnation of Guru Nanak Dev. The High Court refused to quash the FIR lodged under Section 295-A IPC against the man. The High Court stated that sacrilege is a heinous offence “irrespective of any religion”. The accused, identified as Sanjay Rai, allegedly claimed that he was the incarnation of Guru Nanak Dev. Rai also said that he can prove the same by his spiritual knowledge.
