Russian troops are edging closer to a full-scale Ukraine invasion with thousands of troops and deadly weapons massing close to the border.

The alert – backed by warnings from American intelligence – could involve 100,000 troops, artillery, deadly missiles and massive tank formations.

It comes as Russia-backed Belarus is also “weaponising” migrants by pushing them toward the Polish border as troops try to stop them making the crossing.

Moscow is at the same time employing devastating “anti-Covid jab propaganda demonstrations” in Ukraine and spreading other harmful lies about Kiev.

It came as the White House sent warnings to Europe and NATO allies about the latest Ukraine invasion fears- without sharing details from intelligence analysts.

America has warned NATO allies Moscow commanders could be preparing militarily to extend its Ukraine annexation programme – just as it did in 2014.

Almost overnight hundreds of thousands of Russian troops flooded the Crimea, effectively occupying the peninsula, which remains part of Ukraine.

Last night British Russia expert Bruce Jones told The Mirror: “The Kremlin does not want to return to its previous Soviet status, it wants to exceed it.

“It views the concluding years of the USSR as shameful and feeble and to be forgotten. Ruling factions wish and intend much to surpass that status.”

At the same time Moscow intensely loathes, hates and resents the West for the outcome of the Cold War, the fall of the USSR, for causing repeated “deliberate” economic crises and worst of all, stationing troops right up to Russia’s border.

Ukraine warned a new “wave of destabilisation is coming to Ukraine from Russia” in an alert issued by Ruslan Demenchko, first deputy of national security for Ukraine’s defence council.

He said Russia is curbing Ukraine’s gas supplies, whilst blocking alternative fuel supplies amid fears Moscow could impose electricity blackouts, sparing civil unrest.

Moscow’s spooks have also, according to Ukraine, been trying to undermine trust in Kiev by triggering lack of trust in the vaccination programme.

Demenchko said: “The efforts undertaken by the Ukrainian authorities in the fight against the pandemic are described as an attack on human rights, calling for masses to demand restriction lifts through protest.”

There are also escalating fears Moscow’s spies are encouraging insurrection throughout Ukraine by arranginging more protests against the government.

This kind of hybrid warfare is reaching “boiling point” according to Demenchko.

Russia has been massively expanding its military capability in recent years, buying up new and deadly thermobaric and hypersonic weapons.

It has also taken delivery recently of lethal flame – throwing tanks capable of wiping out platoons of enemy forces in trenches and compounds.

Hypersonic missiles are capable of reaching velocities of nine times the speed of sound and are virtually impossible to knock out of the sky.

Thermobaric weapons are capable of being fired from 18 tube multi launch rocket systems firing missiles almost 50 miles and capable of destroying areas the size of a football pitch.

Flame throwing tanks could cause devastation all along Ukraine’s border.

Russia’s possible invasion forces have been building up at military camps near the strategic towns of Yelnya, Bryansk and Kursk with Kiev also reinforcing the border.

Ukrainian commanders have sent a further reinforcement of 8,500 troops to the 300 mile long, heavily -militarised border with Russia.

Belarus dictator Alexander Lukashenko has been accused by the EU of forcing migrants to cross into Poland, which has deployed 15,000 soldiers to bolster the border.
