Road transport ministry announces cash award for good Samaritans who save accident victims | India News

PUDUCHERRY: The Union road transport and highways ministry has launched a scheme to provide cash awards to the good Samaritans, who save lives of victims of road accidents by offering them immediate assistance and admitting them to hospitals within the golden hour for medical treatment.
The ministry will provide a cash award of Rs 5,000 to each good Samaritan. It would also present a ‘certificate of appreciation’ to them for every cash award, said Puducherry transport commissioner A S Sivakumar.
The ministry has also proposed to present 10 national-level awards for the most-worthy good Samaritans and honour them with a cash award of Rs 1 each. It will select the 10 good Samaritans from people, who have been presented Rs 5,000 cash awards during the whole year. The transport department has posted the detailed guidelines of the scheme on its website https://transport.py.gov.in/.
