Mohan Gowda, the spokesperson of the right-wing group tweeted, “Hindu Janajagruti Samiti & other Pro Hindu Organisations conducted Halal Free Yugadi Campaign in Mysore bank circle, Bengaluru. Boycott halal products pamphlets are being distributed; a memorandum is submitted to the Chief minister through Bengaluru DC to ban halal certificates.” The organization also appealed to people not to buy halal meat and work towards the ‘halal free India.’

In November last year, the Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti filed a police complaint against comedian Vir Das. They also demanded the police cancel the show which was scheduled. In a complaint filed at the city’s Vyalikaval Police Station, the fringe group wrote, “… it is not right to allow such a controversial person to hold such a program in a communally sensitive area like Bangalore. When Karnataka is already facing many law-and-order problems due to communal incidents, such events could vitiate law-and-order and should not be allowed. We demand this program be canceled immediately.” However, the show was later cancelled by the comedian due to health reasons.
