‘Realised Won’t Do Justice To Relationship Or Kids’

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s ex-wife, Renu Desai, recently opened up about why she chose not to remarry after their split in 2012. She also revealed the reasons behind staying single and explained why her 2018 engagement was called off. Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan went on to marry Russian actor Anna Lezhneva, his third wife.

Appearing on Nikhil Vijayendra Simha’s podcast, Renu opened up about her broken engagement. She revealed that after her divorce, she gave love another chance through an arranged set-up. However, she soon realised that she wouldn’t be able to do justice either to the relationship or to her responsibilities as a mother to her two children — a son, Akira, and a daughter, Aadhya.

“I’m a single parent. It’s different when you marry someone and have kids with them. But when you’ve had kids with someone, it’s a sensitive thing for someone else to enter the equation. I’m waiting for Aadhya to grow up; she’s 15 now, maybe when she’s 18 and off to college,” added Renu.

When asked if she ever wishes to have a partner in life, Desai admitted that she does. However, it is her sense of responsibility towards her two children that holds her back from pursuing a relationship.

“If I look at it individually, yes, I should have a boyfriend, I should have a marriage, I should have a life. But when I look at it from the kids’ point of view,” she concluded.

Renu tied the knot to Pawan on January 28, 2009, however, they filed for divorce in 2011, which was finalised in 2012.
