Tollywood (Bengali) actor Samrat Mukherjee was arrested on Tuesday (August 20) after his car hit a motorcycle in the Behala region of Kolkata. The news spread like wildfire, and many speculated that the actor arrested was Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji and Kajol’s cousins. However, the news is not true. Samrat has now clarified that the Bengali actor who was taken into custody was not him. The incident has led to a big confusion due to the familiarity with the names and surnames (Mukherjee, Mukerji), which resulted in numerous calls to Mukerji. Samrat Mukerji told ETimes, “I would like o clarify that the actor Samrat Mukherjee, who met with an accident is not me. The actor Samrat Mukherjee is based in Kolkata, and I am a filmmaker. Since morning, I have been getting calls and am tired now, telling them how I am not the same Samrat.” Urging people to clear the misunderstanding, he said, “Everyone has mistaken me tobe the other Bengali actor and people should know its not me.”

On Tuesday, actor Samrat Mukherjee was arrested by the police after he dashed his car to a motorcycle in Kolkata’s Behala area. The victim was rushed to MR Bangur Hospital before receiving treatment in SSKM Hospital.
