Rajkot man goes missing from Pune Railway Station on March 9, kin files complaint

A man from Rajkot, who had arrived in Pune to appear for an interview at an MNC, went missing from the Pune Railway Station on March 9 and is yet to be traced by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP), said the man’s brother-in-law on Tuesday.

Alkesh Rameshbhai Vyas had arrived in Pune on March 8 to appear for an interview at Tata Consultancy Services, informed his brother-in-law Bhargav Joshi at a press conference. A complaint has been filed by Joshi at the Lohmarg Police Station.

Speaking to the media, Joshi said, “He arrived in Pune at 11.20 pm and checked in at the dormitory of the Pune Railway Station and checked out the next morning at 6 am. He has been missing since. The RPF and the GRP tried to trace him by scanning the CCTV footage but he could be tracked only till 6.20 am of March 9 at Platform number 1. Neither was he seen boarding any train nor at the exits of the railway station. We repeatedly checked the footage of 32 cameras of the railway station but he cannot be seen anywhere.”

He added, “The last message Vyas had sent was at 11.35 pm to his wife regarding his arrival in Pune. He has studied for three years in Pune, so this city is not new for him. He is a simple man, loyal to his work and also while traveling, he didn’t carry any valuables, except for his phone, so we do not doubt anyone doing any harm to him.”

The complaint was filed on March 11, two days after the person went missing. Police Sub-Inspector Abdul Patel of the GRP is investigating this case. Presently, there are 59 CCTV cameras at the Pune Railway Station out of which 10 to 12 are defective and the quality of the footage is average, Joshi alleged. Therefore, the police are facing issues while scanning the footage, he added.
