Queen’s coffin to arrive in London; King Charles III to meet leaders in Northern Ireland; Crowds gather to pay respects to monarch

Today will be another busy one in the Queen’s journey to her final resting place.

The late monarch is still lying in state in Edinburgh at the moment. Her body will remain at St Giles’ Cathedral until 5pm (2am on Wednesday AEST). From there, it will be taken by hearse to an airport and then flown by the Royal Air Force to London, where it will land about 7pm (4am AEST).

Anne, the Princess Royal and Elizabeth II’s only daughter, will accompany the coffin on that flight. Afterwards, it will be taken to Buckingham Palace, where it will remain overnight.

While Princess Anne will remain with her mother, King Charles and Camilla will fly from Edinburgh to Belfast for official appointments before then returning to London to be at Buckingham Palace when the Queen’s body arrives.
