The Pune city police have arrested a cab driver late on Monday for allegedly flashing at and molesting a woman professional who had booked his car recently through a ridesharing platform on her way to the office. The police had launched a manhunt for the driver since the last two days.
Senior inspector Arvind Gokule, Hadapsar police station in-charge, said, “The driver of the cab aggregator service was placed under arrest at around 8 pm on Monday. He will be produced before the court on Tuesday.“ The driver has been identified as Shriram Gharbude (32).
An FIR in the case had been registered at Hadapsar police station by the 34-year-old woman. The incident took place on the morning of March 30.
According to the FIR, the driver started making indecent gestures at the complainant and kept staring at her. On the way, the driver flashed at her when he got down to relieve himself and also molested her. The woman later approached the Hadapsar police station where an FIR was registered on April 1. The police have invoked Sections 354 and 509 of the Indian Penal Code.
An officer from Hadapsar police station said, “The complainant had booked the cab through an app cab. We have got the details of the accused driver and we have launched a search for him.”
