Memories of a young Barbra Streisand still light the corners of Prince CharlesтАЩ mind.
In a new radio programme titled тАЬMusic and Memories With HRH The Prince Of WalesтАЭ airing Sunday as part of the U.K.тАЩs national Thank You Day honouring the work of the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic, Charles, 72, shared some of his favourite music and spoke of his memorable first meeting with Streisand, 79.

тАЬI have always been a great admirer of the incredibly versatile American actress and singer Barbra Streisand,тАЭ Charles said, as reported by The Times of London.
тАЬBack in 1974, when I was serving in the Royal Navy тАж as a young lieutenant in the frigate HMS Jupiter, we called into the United States navyтАЩs base in San Diego, California тАж when I heard that she was currently making the film [тАЬFunny LadyтАЭ, a sequel to тАЬFunny GirlтАЭ] in the Warner Brothers Studios тАж I was lucky enough to visit the set and to meet her there.тАЭ
Charles was 26 at the time while Streisand was 32.

The pair would meet again in 1994 and 1995.
In 2019, Streisand joked during a concert in Hyde Park that she and Charles could have been an item. тАЬIf I had played my cards right, I could have been the first Jewish princess,тАЭ the singer quipped.
As the BBC notes, the princeтАЩs favourites songs also included tracks from Diana Ross, Edith Piaf and soul group The Three Degrees.
