prashant kishor: ‘Congress leadership not divine right of an individual’: Prashant Kishor targets Rahul Gandhi again | India News

NEW DELHI: A day after Mamata Banerjee took a swipe at the Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, it was the turn of her political adviser and trusted aide Prashant Kishor to train his guns at the grand old party.
The poll strategist took to Twitter to once again target Rahul Gandhi and take a dig at his electoral failures.
While he recognised the importance of the idea that Congress as a party represented, he demanded that opposition leadership be decided democratically.
“The IDEA and SPACE that Congress represents is vital for a strong opposition. But Congress’ leadership is not the DIVINE RIGHT of an individual especially, when the party has lost more than 90% elections in last 10 years. Let opposition leadership be decided Democratically,” Prashant Kishor tweeted.

Prashant Kishor’s fresh attack on the Congress leadership comes a day after West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee questioned the existence of the United Progressive Alliance.
On Wednesday after her meeting with Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, Mamata had said “there is no UPA now.”
She had also taken an indirect dig at Rahul Gandhi’s trips abroad without taking his name.
No one can do politics by staying abroad half the time, Mamta had said in an interaction in Mumbai.
Mamata had successfully teamed up with Prashant Kishor to take on the BJP challenge in the West Bengal assembly elections.
Prashant Kishor is also working with Mamata for Trinamool’s expansion plans in states like Goa, Mizoram which go to polls next year.
This is not the first time that Prashant Kishor has targeted the Congress leadership.
When the Congress was aggressively pursuing the Lakhimpur Kheri incident in Uttar Pradesh, Prashant Kishor had taken a dig at the party leadership.
“People looking for a quick, spontaneous revival of GOP led opposition based on #LakhimpurKheri incident are setting themselves up for a big disappointment. Unfortunately there are no quick fix solutions to the deep-rooted problems and structural weakness of GOP,” he had then tweeted.
Ironically, Prashant Kishor was reportedly in talks with the Congress leadership to join the grand old party a few months back. He had also met Sonia Gandhi and Rahul for discussions in the process.
However, the talks seem to have failed and ever since the election strategist has been on an offensive against the Congress leadership.
