Poonch: Shepherd injured in mine explosion along LoC in Poonch | India News

POONCH: A local shepherd was injured in a mine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) while grazing his cattle herd in Poonch district on Thursday, police said.
“The incident took place at around 4.10 pm when the youth, Mohammad Javed, 25, son of one Mohammad Sharif Gujjar, was grazing his goats in forest area ahead of the fence along the LoC near his native village. The victim was immediately taken to a nearby health facility for medical assistance,” police said.
Anti-personnel mines planted as a part of security grid to put a check on infiltration of terrorists into J&K have, at times, posed risks after they are displaced due to heavy rains from designated mine fields.
Mahroof, 15, son of one Jamaal Din, was injured in a mine blast while grazing sheep and goats near the LoC in Poonch district on February 6.
On April 29, 2022, an Army major was among 3 soldiers injured in a mine blast near the LoC in Krishna Ghati (KG) Sector of Mendhar in Poonch district.
On July 29, 2021, an Army jawan, sepoy Mukesh Kumar, was injured in a mine blast in Mankote sector along LoC in Mendhar area in Poonch district.
