Daniel Badcock, 32; Osiah Pilton, 20; and Antonio David Mene, 28; allegedly fled Palen Creek Correctional Centre in Rathdowney, about 70 kilometres west of the Gold Coast, on Sunday.
A spokesman said they were believed to have left together.
The prison is a low-security centre made up of a series of buildings just off the Mount Lindesay Highway.
Authorities released photos and descriptions of the men on Sunday night and called for the public to call police with any information.
All the men have tattoos, particularly Badcock.
His ink includes a diamond under his left eye, a word written over his right eye, a knuckle duster on his right hand, a dollar sign on his left and the word “outlaw” on his shin.
Pilton has mum on his left arm and a blue diamond in his left leg, while Mene has markings on his left hand, right arm and right leg.
Badcock and Pilton are about 175 centimetres tall and 65 kilograms while Mene is 170 centimetres and 73 centimetres.
Badcock is serving a year for weapons or explosives offences, Pilton has a year and nine months for entering a dwelling with intent and Mene is serving a three-year sentence for illegal use of a motor vehicle.
