The Pune city police have busted a racket involved in illegally refilling commercial liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders from domestic cylinders in the Vadgaon Budruk area, officials said Thursday. They arrested four people in the case and seized 114 LPG cylinders along with three vehicles.
A police team headed by Crime Branch senior inspector Bharat Jadhav Wednesday raided a gas refilling station in Tukai Nagar and found that domestic and commercial LPG cylinders were illegally stocked at the spot, the police said.
According to the police, the accused were found refilling LPG from domestic cylinders illegally into commercial cylinders, which were then sold in the black market.
A first information report (FIR) was lodged against them at the Sinhagad road police station under sections 285, 286, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and sections of Essential Commodities Act.
