PM Modi virtually inaugurates new CBI office in Pune

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday virtually inaugurated the new office complex of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Pune along with the agency’s new offices in Nagpur and Shillong. Modi inaugurated these buildings as he presided over the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of CBI at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi.

Based at Vishrantwadi, the primary area of responsibility of the Pune office is the Pune and surrounding districts in Western Maharashtra. The office mainly deals with cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement, “In some cities, the Prime Minister said, be it new offices, the Twitter handle or other facilities have also been launched today that will play a key role in strengthening CBI.”

During the programme, Modi also conferred medals to the recipients of the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service and the Gold Medal for Best Investigating Officers of CBI. He released a postage stamp and commemorative coin marking the Diamond Jubilee Celebration year of CBI and also launched the agency’s Twitter handle.

The ceremony also marked the release of the updated administration manual of CBI, an almanac on bank frauds, Supreme Court judgements in CBI cases, and a handbook on International Police cooperation for the exchange of foreign intelligence and evidence.
