PM Modi asks government departments to offer all help to Turkiye, Syria | India News

NEW DELHI: Expressing grief over the massive loss of lives in the devastating earthquakes in Turkiye and Syria, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday instructed government departments concerned to offer all possible assistance to the affected countries to cope with the disaster.
Principal secretary to the PM, P K Mishra held a meeting in South Block to discuss immediate relief measures. It was decided that search and rescue teams of the NDRF and medical teams along with relief material will be immediately dispatched, in coordination with the government of Turkiye.
тАЬAnguished by the loss of lives and damage of property due to the Earthquake in Turkey. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. India stands in solidarity with the people of Turkey and is ready to offer all possible assistance to cope with this tragedy,тАЭ the PM tweeted.
тАЬDeeply pained to learn that the devastating earthquake has also affected Syria. My sincere condolences to the families of the victims. We share the grief of the Syrian people and remain committed to provide assistance and support in this difficult time,тАЭ he added.
тАЬMedical Teams are also being readied with trained doctors and paramedics with essential medicines. Relief material will be dispatched in coordination with the government of Turkiye and the Indian embassy in Ankara and Consulate GeneralтАЩs office in Istanbul,тАЭ the government said.
The meeting was attended by the cabinet secretary, representatives of ministries of home affairs, NDMA, NDRF, defence, external affairs ministry, civil aviation and health & family welfare.
A second giant earthquake тАФ this one of 7.6 magnitude тАФ has just hit southern Turkiye. This is just a few hours after the first 7.8 magnitude quake hit Turkiye and Syria earlier in the day and left over thousand people dead and several injured.
