A pilot has walked away from a severe helicopter crash south of Tamworth this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a property on the New England Highway at Gowrie just before 1pm.
The 30-year-old pilot, the only person in the helicopter, pulled himself out of the crashed cabin and walked to a nearby home for help.
NSW paramedics attended the scene and treated the man for minor injuries.
He was airlifted to Tamworth Base Hospital as a precaution.
Fire and Rescue NSW are at the property managing any hazards from the crash.
Local police are investigating the crash.
