Perth freeway crash ‘like something out of the movies’ causes peak hour chaos

WA Police are searching for three people who incredibly managed to escape from the wreckage of a fiery, high-speed crash on a Perth freeway.

Witnesses have described the freakish crash that paralysed peak hour traffic on Mitchell Freeway like something out of a Hollywood movie.

Many were surprised by not only the dramatic scenes but how the driver and two passengers – one male, one female – then jumped a fence and made a run for it along a bike path.

“[It was] the same scene as the Fast and the Furious,” witness Wilson Tucker told 9News.

“I mean it was sideways coming towards us and it was up the air rolling, I think it rolled about 10 times.”

The luxury Lexus clipped an Audi and launched across five lanes.

“Honestly, we thought that everyone had died in that vehicle,” Tucker said.

The Audi driver escaped uninjured.

The real life action film played out in front of horrified commuters, with flames and scattered clothes causing south-bound traffic to be cut down to one lane from Leederville.

“This car is going to kill some one, it looked like something out of the movies, something that was made in Hollywood,” witness Brooke Arnott told 9News.

“He [the driver] was cutting people off left, right and centre, flew past me, people slamming on their brakes. We were nervous.”
