Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday (December 20, 2024) announced a judicial probe into Parbhani violence over the desecration of the replica of the Constitution held in the hands of Ambedkar’s statue.

On December 11, violence broke out in Parbhani city after a man damaged a replica of the Constitution, a part of the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The incident had triggered fear among Dalits.

The Chief Minister further announced Rs 10 lakh aid each to the kin of Somnath Suryawanshi, who died after arrest in Parbhani case, and murdered Beed sarpanch.

Assuring strict action in Beed village sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh murder case, Mr. Fadnavis said, “The accused will be booked under MCOCA. Beed Superintendent of Police will be transferred and a judicial investigation will be carried out on the murder of Beed village sarpanch.”
