Opium worth ₹1.15 cr was seized by authorities in Bihar’s Gaya district on Wednesday evening, police said.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Ashish Bharti said police received information about narcotics smugglers who had loaded huge quantities of poppy Doda (lanced poppy heads) on a truck near Pachama village and were to transport it inside Jharkhand during the night.
A 12-wheel truck parked at an abandoned place outside the village was found by police.

The smugglers and driver of the truck had fled, police said.

A case has been registered against the unknown smugglers and the driver under section 416 of IPC and sections 18,20 and 22 of NDPS Act, SSP Bharti said.
