Northwestern, south-central regions emerging as future heat wave hotspots in India: Study | India News

A government study has found that northwestern, central, and south-central India are likely to experience a four-to-seven-fold increase in heatwave frequency in the future. The south-central region is expected to see the largest increase among the three heat wave-prone zones. The study analyzed future changes in heatwave characteristics under different emission scenarios and emphasized the need for heat resilient policies and adaptation measures.
