Noida, Ghaziabad Water Cut: Residents to Face 20-Day Water Shortage Due to Ganga Canal Maintenance; Check Dates and List of Affected Areas

Noida, October 13: Residents of Noida and Ghaziabad will experience a water shortage starting Sunday, October 13, as the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department halts the Ganga water supply for 20 days. The stoppage is due to annual maintenance work on the upper Ganga canal in Haridwar, impacting nearly 10 lakh residents in areas like Indirapuram, Vasundhara, Vaishali, and Delta Colony.

Authorities from the Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) have assured alternative water arrangements during the disruption. However, water will only be available in the mornings with reduced pressure. The situation is worsened by ongoing issues, such as a recently repaired transformer that had previously caused disruptions, leaving areas like Abhay Khand 3, Gyan Khand 2, and Ahinsa Khand 2 in Indirapuram with low water pressure. Greater Noida Water Crisis: People Wait in Long Queues As Panchsheel Hynish Society Grapples With Water Shortage (Watch Video).

Affected areas include Indirapuram’s Abhay Khand, Nyay Khand, Gyan Khand, Shakti Khand, and sectors of Vasundhara and Vaishali. Residents of Vasundhara Sector 9 have already started complaining about difficulties in managing daily tasks, with some turning to bottled water for basic needs. In Kaushambi and Vasundhara Sector 10, broken pipelines have left some areas without any water supply. Mumbai: Water Supply Likely To Be Affected in Some Parts After Pipeline Supplying Water From Tansa Lake Bursts at Powai, Videos of Massive Leakage Surface.

Residents are urged to conserve water during this period and rely on alternative sources where possible. The Ganga water supply is expected to resume by November 2, once canal maintenance is completed. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure minimal disruption during the maintenance period.
